A24's new psychological thriller Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson as real-life television journalist Chris Hansen, premiered on September 25, 2026. The film is based on the real-life cancellation of NBC's To Catch a Predator and uncovers the truth behind the reality TV phenomenon's moral collapse.
Directed by Lance Oppenheim, the movie dramatizes the rise of Chris Hansen as the face of NBC's predator-sting series. It also explores how the hunger for ratings pushed the production into increasingly dangerous territory, including the Bill Conradt sting operation and the controversy that brought the To Catch a Predator era to an end.
