Aamir Khan Meets Raj Thackeray Amid Imran Khan's Bombay High Court Challenge
Aamir Khan visited MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday as his nephew, actor Imran Khan, challenges a Leave India Notice in the Bombay High Court.
Aamir Khan met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at his residence on Sunday, October 18, while an ongoing legal battle involves Aamir's nephew, actor Imran Khan. Imran is challenging a Leave India Notice that directs him to leave the country by October 28. The purpose of the meeting between Aamir and Raj was not immediately known, though the two have shared friendly relations over the years.
Imran's legal challenge follows a notice issued by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) on October 14, with a hearing scheduled for Monday, October 19. The notice alleges a violation of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, due to Imran's participation in an October 10 Mumbai protest calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
On Saturday, the 44-year-old actor approached the Bombay High Court to have the directive cancelled, describing it in his petition as “unconstitutional,” “non-bonafide,” and a “high-handed and grossly disproportionate abuse of power.” Imran requested an immediate stay on the order, protection from deportation, a Look Out Circular (LOC), blacklisting, and any impact on his Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status.
Authorities have also initiated separate proceedings to revoke Imran's OCI status through a second FRRO notice. Legal proceedings are currently underway before the Bombay High Court.
