Delhi Belly 2 Discussions and Studio Hurdles

Director Abhinay Deo has shared insights into the ongoing discussions surrounding a potential sequel to the 2011 film Delhi Belly. Deo revealed that he speaks with producer Aamir Khan almost every month about the project, stating he asks him if they can make Delhi Belly 2. According to Deo, Khan responds by telling him to catch writer Akshat Verma and have him finish the script.

However, Deo pointed out a few challenges for the sequel. He noted that the original film was made by UTV, which has since been acquired by Disney. Deo expressed concern that if Disney agrees to make the sequel, they might ask for the abusive language to be removed to make it a clean entertainer, noting, “Yeh ek hi aisi film hai jo kabhi clean nahin ho sakti!” Another challenge mentioned is the writing timeline, as writer Akshat Verma took nine years to write the original film.

Connections with Imran Khan

Imran Khan, who starred in the original film, was recently in the news after being detained by the Mumbai Police during a protest, bringing renewed attention to Delhi Belly and its track ‘Bhaag DK Bose’. Director Abhinay Deo confirmed he is in touch with Imran Khan, describing him as a sweet fellow. Deo stated that he previously spoke to Khan about a completely different film, but Khan was unable to do it because he was busy shooting for Adhure Hum Adhure Tum.
