Abhinay Deo's Doosra Aims for Interval-Free Release Ahead of October 23 Premiere

Director Abhinay Deo discusses the potential for an interval-free theatrical release for his upcoming 78-minute film Doosra, following his 2011 film Delhi Belly.

The trailer for Doosra has drawn attention for its storytelling, which follows Sourav Ganguly's cricketing career and India's victory in the 2002 NatWest Trophy final alongside the parallel story of Tara (Plabita Borthakur), who lives in a conservative household in Rajasthan. With a runtime of 78 minutes, the film is an exception compared to longer releases.

Director Abhinay Deo previously released his 2011 film Delhi Belly without an interval. Speaking about whether Doosra could achieve the same, Deo stated that ideally the film should not have an interval, noting that short films like Doosra would be thrown off by a break, though theaters often insist on pauses due to concessions.

If Doosra is released without an interval, Deo could become the only director in Indian cinema history to have two films released without an interval. Doosra is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 23.
