Addinath M Kothare Recalls School Days With Ranbir Kapoor and Discusses Ramayana

Addinath M Kothare discusses working on Ramayana with Ranbir Kapoor, their school days, social media algorithms, and upcoming projects like Zapatlela 3 and Gandhi.

Actor Addinath M Kothare has opened up about his upcoming projects, including his role in the film Ramayana, where he stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama's younger half-brother, Bharat. Addinath also stars in Nayyi Navelli, noting that he is fortunate to have two films releasing close together.

Reflecting on his connection with Ranbir Kapoor, Addinath revealed that they both attended Bombay Scottish school. Recalling their only childhood interaction, Addinath shared, “He was my senior. I was in Class 6 or 7 while he was in Class 9 or 10.” He recalled being introduced to Ranbir by a mutual friend and classmate, Binoy Gandhi, remembering that Ranbir was tall, lean, and shook hands with him. Addinath later reminded Ranbir of their school connection when they reunited on the set of Ramayana, which Ranbir remembered.

Addressing the social media negativity surrounding Ramayana, Addinath dismissed it, stating, “It’s all due to algorithms. I don’t believe that (there’s negativity), as I am seeing a lot of positive responses on my feed.” He praised the hard work and sincerity of the makers, expressing pride in being part of the project.

Looking ahead, Addinath is also looking forward to the web series Gandhi, directed by Hansal Mehta and starring Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi, where Addinath plays Gopal Krishna Gokhale. Additionally, he confirmed that Zapatlela 3 will go on floors very soon and that he will soon announce a film he is directing.
