Ajay Devgn at FICCI Frames 2026: Making a Hindi Film is More Difficult Than Regional or International Cinema

Ajay Devgn discusses the difficulties of making Hindi films compared to regional and international cinema at FICCI Frames 2026.

During day 2 of FICCI Frames 2026, actor Ajay Devgn and Alok Jain, Head of Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV and Studios) at JioStar, discussed their upcoming film, Drishyam The Conclusion, which is set to release on October 2. They also discussed box-office dynamics and post-Covid audience trends.

Devgn stated that making a Hindi film is the most difficult task. He explained that regional films like Punjabi, Telugu, or Tamil projects target a specific region with known tastes. In contrast, for Hindi-speaking regions, the language and thought processes change every 80 to 90 kilometers, requiring filmmakers to navigate mass, class, urban, and rural audiences.

Devgn added that international cinema also benefits from knowing its specific target audience's behavior and thoughts, whereas Hindi films attempt to target everyone, making writing a Hindi film particularly challenging.

Additionally, director Abhishek Pathak spoke about Drishyam The Conclusion, revealing that he studied fan theories to keep the climax a secret and stating that the climax is the real star of the show.
