Alisha Chinai Reveals She Was Shortlisted Alongside Juhi Chawla for Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak

In a conversation with Komal Nahta, Alisha Chinai opened up about turning down an opportunity to act in the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak opposite Aamir Khan.

Chinai explained that apart from singing, she also wanted to act and dabbled in modelling. She stated that she was called for a screen test and auditioned with Aamir Khan, who rehearsed dialogues with her. However, she decided not to attend the final audition because she felt she could not cry on cue and believed acting in Bollywood films was contrived. She also noted that she was down with a fever and felt she would not fit in.

Chinai revealed that only two people had been shortlisted for the role: herself and Juhi Chawla. According to Chinai, Aamir Khan was quite upset that she did not go to the final audition. When asked if she ever met Aamir Khan afterward, Chinai stated that she met him once and he just smiled.
