The cosmic ocean churning legend Amrut Manthan is presented as a dance drama featuring Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Mohiniattam, and Chhau, under the direction of Dr. Sonal Mansingh.

Amrut Manthan

The legend of Amrut Manthan, the great churning of the cosmic ocean, is an ancient narrative in Bharat’s sacred continuum. Its depictions appear on temple walls, sculpted friezes, frescoes, and miniature paintings, and its essence is found in the Puranas and sacred texts. The legend symbolizes the eternal churning within human consciousness, reminding individuals to observe the battle between Devatva and Aasurik, confront negative subconscious elements, and emerge victorious through awareness, effort, and faith.

In this production, an amalgamation of Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Mohiniattam, and Chhau brings the legend to life through divine energies, music, and dance. Under the direction of Dr. Sonal Mansingh, the production serves as an aesthetic pilgrimage from darkness to light and turmoil to transcendence, celebrating Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram.
