Anubhav Sinha Discusses the Creation of Benaras Beat's Debut Track 'Barish Aur Tum'

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha shared the creative process behind 'Barish Aur Tum', the debut track from his newly launched music label, Benaras Beat. In a behind-the-scenes video, Sinha discussed his initial reaction to the song and the collaboration involving composer Shashi Suman, lyricist Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, and singer Abdul Shaikh.

The song originated during a post-lockdown jamming session, starting with Upadhyay’s poetry. Suman composed the song around themes of rain, memories, and romance on the piano. Sinha recalled being immediately drawn to the track, stating that the very first line of the opening verse was an absolute clincher.

Sinha suggested adding a humming sequence to the composition. The team selected Abdul Shaikh as the vocalist to provide the intended emotional quality for the track.

'Barish Aur Tum' is the first release from Benaras Beat, a separate creative venture developed by Sinha alongside his work in cinema to create a platform for original compositions beyond film soundtracks.

Additionally, Sinha has previously called for more films on freedom fighters, stating that there is a need for one to two films on Gandhi every year for the next 100 years.
