Elon Musk is the subject of a four-hour documentary titled Musk, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney. The project features participation from several of Elon's exes, including Ashley St Clair, who made allegations against him regarding neglect and wanting to produce many children.

Ashley St Clair claimed that Elon texted her stating he wanted to have a child with her because he needed "a legion of children before the civil war." Knowing it was not practically possible for his partner to carry that many babies, he was reportedly open to using surrogacy to fulfill his wish to build a large family, though Ashley claimed he was not capable of managing it.

Ashley alleged that Elon coerced her to have children early in their courtship. She expressed apprehension about becoming a "baby mama" to someone who already had multiple children with other women, including pop star Grimes and ex-wife Justine Wilson, and compared his actions to interacting with numerous women that sometimes led to procreation.
