The actor lost his longtime Pacific Palisades home in the January 2025 wildfires, and soon after, he lost his close friend Rob Reiner. These events shook Billy's faith and led him to feel that the Earth is in bad shape during a weird and scary time.

Despite these hardships, Billy admitted that he heavily leaned on his family to get through the tough period, which includes his wife, Janice Crystal, to whom he has been married for 56 years.

Janice Crystal is involved in show business with experience working as a producer and actor. In her younger days, she served as an assistant to the dean of theatre at a junior college on Long Island. Janice has also worked on projects related to her husband, serving as a producer on Billy Crystal: 700 Sundays in 2014, which earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety Special. She later starred in a movie directed by Billy titled Here Today.
