Christa Pike is in the news following reports regarding her attempted execution on September 30, 2026. In 1995, Pike killed 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer alongside her then-boyfriend, Tadaryl Shipp, when Pike was 18 years old. Sentenced to the death penalty in 1996, she has spent over thirty years behind bars and became the youngest woman to receive the death penalty in the United States.
