Dia Mirza Mortgaged Her First Home to Produce Bobby Jasoos Starring Vidya Balan

In 2014, actress turned producer Dia Mirza took a significant personal financial risk to back the film Bobby Jasoos, starring Vidya Balan in the lead role. Reflecting on the making of the project, Mirza revealed that she mortgaged her first-ever purchased home to take out a bank loan and bring the film to life after potential studios and financiers backed out.

"I had bought my first home after years of working, and I mortgaged it to take a bank loan so we could make the film," Mirza shared. She noted that she felt compelled to honor the project because Balan had committed her dates and a team was in place.

Mirza also emphasized her pride in ensuring that Balan was paid fairly for carrying the film on her shoulders. "If we were willing to recognise and remunerate a male actor for carrying a film, why should it be any different for a woman?" she stated.

Directed by Samar Shaikh, Bobby Jasoos follows Bilqees Ahmed, an aspiring detective from Hyderabad.
