Farah Khan Recalls Mithun Chakraborty's Arrival on Om Shanti Om Set

Mithun Chakraborty’s popularity caused a stampede and unexpected frenzy during the making of the song 'Deewangi Deewangi' for the film Om Shanti Om. Farah Khan recalled the incident while speaking to Mithun’s sons, Mimo and Namashi Chakraborty, on her vlog.

Although 32 leading actors participated in the song, Mithun's arrival created a massive commotion before he became known to a newer generation through shows like Dance India Dance. Farah shared that a woman actually fainted, which inspired a similar scene included in the song. The reaction from the crew was so intense that a lightman even jumped from his position to meet him, leaving both Farah and Shah Rukh Khan wondering what was happening.

An Unplanned Moment With Shah Rukh Khan

Farah also recalled an unplanned moment between Mithun Chakraborty and Shah Rukh Khan during filming. When Shah Rukh struggled to follow Mithun's dance steps, Mithun playfully tapped him on the head. This moment was retained in the final cut of the song.

Released in 2007, 'Deewangi Deewangi' featured a large line-up of Bollywood stars, including Dharmendra, Tabu, Karisma Kapoor, Jeetendra, Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, and Juhi Chawla.
