Producer Anupriya Nagar opened up about the early struggles of Hanuman Ansh, revealing she wanted to return to Zurich after the film was declared a flop and its screen count dropped sharply.

Producer Anupriya Nagar Recalls Early Struggles of Hanuman Ansh

Producer Anupriya Nagar, who is 21 years old, opened up about the initial challenges faced by Hanuman Ansh after its release. In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Anupriya recalled how the film's declining screen count and lack of support led her to question whether she wanted to continue in the film industry.

Speaking about the early box office performance, Anupriya noted that it was disheartening to see people not watching the film. She stated, “I wasn’t disheartened because we weren’t making money. I was disheartened because people weren’t watching the film.”

To create awareness, Anupriya personally stepped in by traveling to Delhi to meet leaders and devotees, and by participating in podcasts and interviews to generate word of mouth. The situation grew more difficult when the film's screen count dropped from 300 screens to 30 screens on the eighth day. She recalled that team members considered seeking a good OTT deal to recover money.

Reflecting on the experience, Anupriya admitted, “When the film was declared a flop, I thought maybe I would pack my bags and go back to Zurich. I thought this industry was not meant for me.”

Initial Resistance and Changing Perceptions

Anupriya shared that finding investment for post-production was difficult prior to her involvement, as many people did not believe in the small-budget project featuring a first-time director and new actors.

However, she noted that perceptions have since changed. Producers have reached out to congratulate the team, with some apologizing for turning down the project initially and acknowledging that a small film can achieve significant success.

Hanuman Ansh is a biographical drama directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, based on the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba. The cast includes Shobhinaw Satyaa, Vihaan Shedge, Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, and Gulshan Pandey. The film was released in cinemas on August 7, 2026, and later collected Rs. 3.43 cr on Day 48, taking its total closer to Rs. 280 cr.
