Judge Denies Lindsay Clancy's Not Guilty Verdict Bid
Judge William Sullivan denied a defense motion for a not guilty verdict in the Lindsay Clancy case, ruling that prosecutors presented sufficient evidence for a jury.
Judge William Sullivan ruled that prosecutors presented enough evidence for a jury to decide whether Lindsay Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. The case returned to Plymouth Superior Court on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following a first trial that ended in a hung jury.
Judge Sullivan denied the defense's motion to grant a not guilty verdict to 36-year-old Lindsay Clancy. The former nurse has pleaded not criminally responsible by reason of insanity and faces three counts of first-degree murder in the January 2023 deaths of her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.
Lindsay Clancy's Lawyer Argued Lack of Evidence
Following a trial in September 2026 that ended in a hung jury, defense attorney Kevin Reddington filed a post-trial motion during a September 29 hearing, challenging the prosecution's evidence and arguing that the case relied too heavily on assumptions.
