Kamal Gianchandani Discusses Hollywood’s Record-Breaking India Run and Upcoming Releases

Hollywood films have experienced an exceptional performance at the Indian box office. According to an Ormax Media report, Hollywood titles collected Rs. 1,424 crores between January and July 2026, surpassing the Rs. 1,403 crores earned throughout 2025, while closing in on the 2019 all-time record of Rs. 1,595 crores.

Kamal Gianchandani, Chief Business Planning & Strategy at PVR INOX Limited and CEO of PVR INOX Pictures Limited, analyzed this performance, attributing the uptick to the resolution of past industry strikes, an end to direct-to-streaming experiments by studios, and growing streaming fatigue among audiences seeking a theatrical experience.

Gianchandani shared expectations for upcoming releases, stating that Avengers Endgame: Encore will break all re-release records following fantastic advance ticket sales. He also highlighted an upcoming lineup including Avengers: Doomsday, Dune: Part Three, Jumanji: Open World, and King.

Additionally, Gianchandani confirmed that PVR INOX Pictures will release Godzilla Minus Zero in India—likely during the same week as Ramayana on Diwali—along with Neon's Artificial during Christmas. The slate also includes Bollywood releases such as Mauja Hi Mauja starring Akshay Kumar and Monster starring Salman Khan.
