Kashika Kapoor Prepares for Telugu Release Caste

Kashika Kapoor is preparing for her upcoming Telugu release, Caste, a horror-comedy drama featuring a social context. The teaser introduces Kapoor as Gayathri, a role the actress describes as entirely different from anything she has done before.

Discussing the character, Kapoor called Gayathri very versatile, noting that the role blends seriousness and emotion and allows her to be emotional and vulnerable. She also revealed that she gets possessed at some point in the film.

Physical Transformation and Social Themes

To fit the character's template, Kapoor gained six kilos in two and a half weeks. She noted that maintaining different looks for multiple films simultaneously involved a constant back and forth of gaining and losing weight to do justice to the character.

According to Kapoor, Caste draws from the Constitution of India and addresses societal issues. “No person should face discrimination, exclusion or injustice because of their caste,” she stated. She noted that the film avoids preaching and instead tells a real, raw story that shows how caste impacts real lives, choices, and identities.

Sparks for Conversation

Kapoor expressed a sense of responsibility in joining a project that sparks awareness and conversation, noting that shifting perspectives is where change begins. She emphasized the importance of pushing outside of one's comfort zone rather than playing it safe to grow as an actor.

Additionally, the project recently received a boost with actor Naga Babu joining the cast and praising Kapoor's performance.
