Kriti Sanon Calls for Safer Public Spaces for Women in Daughter’s Day Message
On Daughter's Day, actor Kriti Sanon shared a social media post addressing women's safety in public spaces and urging society to create a safer world.
On Daughter’s Day, Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon shared a message on social media challenging the traditional celebratory narrative and urging society to address safety concerns women face in public spaces. In an Instagram post, Sanon highlighted the constant vigilance required by young women, describing everyday anxieties such as being followed by men, walking home alone while looking over her shoulder, or dealing with a dying phone battery.
"From sharing her live location, to carrying pepper spray, to booking a cab instead of walking, or calling someone just to feel safer — we have forced her to make this her lifestyle," Sanon wrote. The actor stated that true celebration will only happen when women can exist freely in public without fearing for their safety.
Concluding her message, Sanon expressed hope for a future where women no longer need to send arrival confirmation messages, stating, "That is the world our daughters deserve! And that is the world we owe them!" The post has sparked conversations around public infrastructure, security, and systemic responsibility toward women's safety.
