Kubbra Sait Questions Women's Safety Rules After Delhi Park Rape Case

Actor Kubbra Sait has addressed women’s safety in India through a video shared on social media, questioning why conversations about safety frequently place responsibility on women instead of addressing the behavior that makes them unsafe. In the video, Kubbra states that safety feels like a fictional place, noting that age, location, time, or circumstance do not guarantee safety.

The actor highlighted routine precautions women are told to take, such as covering up, avoiding going out at night, not hanging out with boys, sharing locations, and carrying pepper spray, while asking how much more careful women are expected to be. She then shifted focus to what boys and men are taught regarding consent and boundaries, questioning when instructions like not stalking, following, threatening, or punishing women for rejection will reach them.

Using satire, Kubbra suggested measures such as reformation camps, consent camps, ego detoxes, and patriarchy de-addiction centers for boys, stating that the parenting strategy of saying "boys will be boys" is not working. She also defined feminism as the simple idea that women are people.

The video connects the argument to everyday activities women should be able to do without fear, including studying, traveling, meeting friends, buying stationery, or existing in public spaces. Ultimately, Kubbra's message questions the expectation that women must continually alter their routines, calling instead for a focus on teaching boys consent, boundaries, and respect.
