Sarah Saya on Her Career and Beauty Philosophy

Former model turned hair stylist and makeup artist Sarah Saya has worked with international and Bollywood clients across India, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Saya explained that her career has naturally evolved across these markets through relationships, trust, and the work itself, noting that beauty is interpreted differently in every market.

Despite regional differences, her approach remains constant. "I want the person to still look like themselves. I just want them to look the best version of themselves," she said, adding that she always considers the skin, light, photography, and how makeup translates on camera.

Collaborating with Raashii Khanna

Saya credits her recent work with Raashii Khanna to a bond built over time. "I think the biggest thing we have is trust," Saya stated, noting that they have developed a creative understanding. Mood boards are central to their process, with Saya creating one for every look. She praised Khanna for being open to ideas and receptive to communication.

The duo also experiments with looks, such as bold lips for a recent portfolio shoot, while ensuring Khanna still feels like herself. For back-to-back appearances, Saya emphasizes skin preparation—including a 10-to-15-minute lymphatic drainage massage—and builds the makeup to allow for quick refreshes rather than a complete redo.
