Mona Singh Recalls Accepting Her Role in 3 Idiots Without Hesitation

Mona Singh Discusses Role Selection and 3 Idiots

Mona Singh has discussed her approach to choosing roles, stating that screen time is never her deciding factor. According to Singh, every actor portrays a character regardless of whether they play a protagonist or a supporting part.

Reflecting on her career, Singh recalled being offered a role in 3 Idiots between 2007 and 2008. She stated that her decision to join the film was immediate because she was excited about working with director Rajkumar Hirani, whom she called a favorite, and Aamir Khan. Singh noted that she did not hesitate to accept the project before discussing the specifics of the role with Hirani, who advised her not to focus on screen time or role size.

Singh has continued to apply this philosophy to her work, including across multiple projects in 2026 such as Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, Border 2, Kohrra Season 2, Subedaar, Maa Ka Sum, and Pritam Pedro, portraying a variety of characters including a Goan gangster, a fauji wife, a policewoman, and a villain.
