Neha Dhupia Reflects on Turning Down Chak De! India and Operation Safed Sagar

Neha Dhupia has reflected on two projects she turned down during her career: Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De! India and Netflix’s Operation Safed Sagar. During a board game session on her chat show Double Date, the actress spoke about the decisions and acknowledged that she had missed out on opportunities she would have liked to pursue.

Among the projects she discussed was Chak De! India, the sports drama starring Shah Rukh Khan that went on to receive critical acclaim and widespread recognition. Dhupia also spoke about Operation Safed Sagar, a series she was offered but ultimately declined. Looking back at both decisions, the actress described them as significant opportunities she had let go.

Speaking about the projects, Neha said, “Sometimes, when you look back at the opportunities you turned down, you realise what you may have missed. Chak De! India and Operation Safed Sagar were two such opportunities that stayed with me.” The actress also spoke about her interest in exploring stories set against sporting and military backgrounds. Reflecting on the projects she did not take up, she added, “I always wanted to do a good sports film, a good fauji film, but have missed these two big opportunities.”

Her comments offer a glimpse into the professional choices she has reconsidered over the years. While Chak De! India went on to become a widely recognised sports drama, Dhupia’s remarks suggest that both projects represented roles she would have liked to explore.

The discussion on Double Date also highlights how actors may look back on projects differently after their eventual reception and impact become clear. Dhupia did not elaborate on the reasons behind turning down either project but acknowledged that both remained missed opportunities in her career.
