Netflix Releases Trailer for Gangster Drama Akka Starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Akka, an upcoming gangster drama starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and produced by YRF Entertainment, the series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 30.

Set in the fictional kingdom of Pernuru, the series follows a power struggle between two women that threatens a long-standing legacy. The cast also features Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar, and Monica Panwar. The trailer introduces Keerthy as Bhavani, who is determined to protect her legacy, and Radhika as Rudra, who challenges the established order in Pernuru.

Keerthy Suresh described her character Bhavani as someone with strength and authority who faces difficult choices under high stakes. She also praised working with Radhika Apte, noting that their characters' contrasting energies add tension to the narrative.

Radhika Apte described Rudra as a fierce character with ambitions who refuses to be defined by her circumstances. She stated that the central conflict in Akka involves different beliefs, loyalties, and personal stakes alongside the battle for power, and she enjoyed bringing the rivalry to life alongside Keerthy.

Writer-director Dharmaraj Shetty stated that he was drawn to the project by the opportunity to approach the gangster genre through a different setting and characters. He noted that Pernuru is a world shaped by generations of women where power, legacy, and rivalry drive the story.

Akka marks the latest collaboration between Netflix and YRF Entertainment, following previous projects such as The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj, and Mandala Murders.
