Producer Ashi Dua Teases More Intertwined Fourth Installment of Lust Stories and Recalls Early Casting Challenges
Producer Ashi Dua has hinted at a more interconnected fourth instalment for the Lust Stories franchise, while reflecting on the challenges of casting the first film and how perceptions of female desire have evolved.
Producer Ashi Dua has revealed that the third instalment of the Lust Stories franchise features subtle connections between its four stories that viewers might miss if they are not paying close attention. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Ashi explained that characters from one story appear in another through small elements designed to blend naturally into the individual narratives.
Ashi added that the team would like to develop this idea further for a potential fourth instalment, noting that a more intertwined anthology would require considerable coordination as all four directors would need to write and shoot at the same time.
Reflecting on how perceptions of the franchise have changed since the first instalment arrived in 2018, Ashi recalled that casting the original film was very difficult despite featuring high-profile directors such as Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, and Dibakar Banerjee. She noted that actors gradually became more comfortable with the project after realizing the films aimed to explore female desire and give characters perspectives rather than objectify women.
The first Lust Stories was released in 2018, followed by Lust Stories 2 in 2023, with the third instalment currently streaming.
