Producer Ritesh Sidhwani Reveals Amar Akbar Anthony Inspiration in Mirzapur The Movie

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani Reveals Classic Cinema Inspiration Behind Mirzapur The Movie

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani and his banner, Excel Entertainment, along with director Gurmmeet Singh, achieved box office success with Mirzapur The Movie. The cinematic adaptation features an ensemble cast led by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu, bringing the iconic franchise to the big screen.

Discussing the creative choices behind the project, Ritesh Sidhwani revealed that director Gurmmeet Singh took subtle inspiration from the legendary classic Amar Akbar Anthony. Just as the classic film featured three leading men, Mirzapur The Movie featured Pankaj Tripathi (Kaleen Bhaiya), Divyenndu (Munna Bhaiya), and Ali Fazal (Guddu Bhaiya) as its three main figures.

Highlighting these creative choices, Ritesh Sidhwani stated: “There are certain references that Guru (Gurmmeet Singh) has put in Mirzapur from Amar Akbar Anthony. So yeah, we’ve grown up watching those films and adding references from it was iconic.”

Additionally, actor Shweta Tripathi noted that Golu Gupta will always be a part of her and hinted at possibly revisiting the character in the future.
