Raghubir Yadav Recalls Doordarshan Era and How TV Scenarios Changed
Veteran actor Raghubir Yadav reflects on his career, the sincere work culture of the Doordarshan era, and how the television landscape changed with the arrival of daily soaps and multiple channels.
Veteran actor Raghubir Yadav, known for his roles in the web show Panchayat and the project Hunkkaar – The Roar, recently reflected on his career and the changing television landscape.
Yadav’s first major claim to fame was the 1989 Doordarshan TV show Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne, directed by Prakash Jha. Recalling the work culture of those days, Yadav noted that everyone worked sincerely and unitedly as a team, with the director, writer, and other departments collaborating without an atmosphere of business.
However, the actor pointed out that the situation worsened later on with the arrival of daily soaps and multiple channels. According to Yadav, people started "factories of TV shows" and began selling products without a proper culture.
Reflecting on his selection criteria over a career spanning more than four decades, Yadav shared that he looks for characters he has never done before that challenge him and give him sleepless nights. Looking back at his journey, he stated that he simply kept learning and having fun rather than focusing on reaching a specific goal.
