Rashtragranth – The Pillar of Democracy: Exploring India's First Constitution-Based Theatre Production

Rashtragranth is India's first theatre production based entirely on the Constitution of India, written by Prasad Hanumant Thorve and Abhiram Bhadkamkar, directed by Kumar Sohoni, and produced by Artistic Humans.

Rashtragranth is India’s first theatre production based entirely on the Constitution of India. It presents values such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity through storytelling, connecting the vision of the Constitution’s framers with the realities of today’s citizens. Through dramatic scenes, symbolism, and performances, the play makes the Constitution relatable for students and young audiences.

The production is written by Prasad Hanumant Thorve and Abhiram Bhadkamkar. Thorve is a theatre practitioner who has worked as a writer, director, and actor across Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, and English theatre. Bhadkamkar is an acclaimed playwright, screenwriter, and director who has received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

The play is directed by Kumar Sohoni, a Mumbai-based theatre and film director, National School of Drama alumnus, and recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Drama Direction.

Rashtragranth is produced by Artistic Humans, an organisation that designs and delivers theatre productions, cultural festivals, and skill-based workshops. Their other notable work includes the UN-recognised play Pruthvi Che Shetkari.
