Ritesh Sidhwani Details Excel Entertainment’s Core Philosophy on Filmmaking and Trends
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani discusses Excel Entertainment's approach to storytelling, avoiding trends, and creating films like Don and KGF.
Veteran producer Ritesh Sidhwani has explained why authentic storytelling and constant evolution are preferred over chasing box-office formulas, highlighting Excel Entertainment's core philosophy of never following trends.
Addressing the cinematic landscape and the success of projects like the Hindi release of Prashanth Neel’s KGF, Sidhwani noted that South filmmakers openly share that they grew up watching classic Salim-Javed stories and incorporate those elements into their work. Sidhwani shared that he saw KGF and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Reflecting on the creative approach behind Excel Entertainment's hits, including Don and Dil Chahta Hai, Sidhwani stated that the production house's approach is to never follow trends. He emphasized the importance of constantly changing, doing whatever excites you, remaining relatable, and connecting with the audience.
Sidhwani also highlighted that Indian cinema audiences are accepting of every kind of cinema, noting that filmmakers should not necessarily assume that whatever is working in the South should be replicated.
