In a recent interview with NBC News, the actor's mother, Dyna Mitte, spoke about the loss and recalled the moment she discovered him.

Dyna shared that days before his passing, the actor spent the weekend with his family and spoke with several friends. She called him on the morning of October 12, 2026. Because he often slept until noon, she did not find it unusual when he failed to pick up the phone. Dyna stated, "So I called him at 11. He didn’t answer, so I picked up lunch and went to take it to him, and that’s when I discovered him." Dyna also revealed that she had suggested therapy to her son.
