Salman Khan Recalls Hesitating to Host Dus Ka Dum Due to Public Negativity and Salim Khan's Advice

While interacting with contestants on Bigg Boss 20 during Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan opened up about a difficult career phase marked by intense negativity and public scrutiny. He recalled hesitating to host the television game show Dus Ka Dum due to controversies discussed in newspapers and television channels at the time.

Reflecting on the period after films such as Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Karan Arjun, Salman noted that his personal and professional life faced heavy media attention, including court cases and relationship reports. Unsure about taking the television offer, he discussed it with his father, writer Salim Khan.

According to Salman, his father asked him whether he trusted his own personality, mind, heart, and upbringing. When Salman answered affirmatively, Salim Khan advised him to simply be himself on the show.

Salman believes that Dus Ka Dum allowed audiences to see him as a person rather than just an actor, helping clear the image that had been created in the media. He also compared his journey with Amitabh Bachchan's association with Kaun Banega Crorepati, noting how the show became an important part of his public identity. Sharing his experiences with the Bigg Boss 20 contestants, Salman encouraged them to remain authentic despite criticism and the pressures of the show.
