Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor Discuss Shanaya Kapoor's Acting Ambitions and Childhood

Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor recently discussed their daughter Shanaya Kapoor’s journey toward acting during an appearance on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s Double Date. They revealed that her interest in the profession developed naturally over time rather than through a formal announcement.

Sanjay explained that Shanaya never made a formal declaration about becoming an actor. Instead, her inclination grew out of the environment she was raised in. He noted her strong work ethic, mentioning that she trained in belly dancing and worked on her diction even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maheep recalled an early memory from the premiere of Saawariya, where a young Shanaya, dressed in a lehenga, continued her excitement throughout a family dinner at the Marriott. Maheep stated that she knew then Shanaya had tasted the excitement of the film industry.

Sanjay also highlighted the influence of Shanaya’s cousin, Sonam Kapoor, noting that Shanaya looked up to Sonam while growing up before Janhvi Kapoor made her acting debut. Additionally, Sanjay shared that seeing his own professional journey allowed Shanaya to witness the highs and lows of the film industry, helping her understand the challenges of the profession.

Separately, Shanaya Kapoor addressed social media, stating that she will never quit despite receiving hate and is learning to ignore it.
