Shefali Shah Reveals She Asks Her Sons' Permission Before Sharing Photos Online

Actor Shefali Shah believes that sharing personal stories comes with a responsibility to respect the privacy of those involved. Her debut book, The Audacity of Being: A Sort-of Memoir, offers a glimpse into her life, but she remains mindful about what she reveals regarding her husband, filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah, her children, and her friends.

Speaking about the decisions made while writing the memoir, Shefali explained that she consulted her sons before including chapters about them because their lives intertwine with hers. She noted that she maintains that same respect in her daily life, stating she seeks her sons' permission even before sharing a photograph of them on social media.

Shefali shared that her writing process was guided by her personal comfort levels rather than a fixed set of rules. She chose to omit topics she was uncomfortable discussing, while emphasizing that honesty remained a primary focus. She stated that while there are things she chooses not to talk about, nothing included in her work is false.
