Shriya Saran Recalls Preparing for Drishyam 2 Eight Months After Giving Birth

The Drishyam franchise features Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn), a cable operator and film enthusiast who protects his family. As the Hindi trilogy concluded with the release of Drishyam 3 on October 2, 2026, Shriya Saran, who plays Vijay’s wife Nandini, has opened up about the similarities between herself and her character.

In an interview, Shriya recalled preparing for Drishyam 2 shortly after the birth of her first child. She noted that while she considers herself strong, she often doubts her ability to handle difficult situations until she gets through them. She stated, “I can be very strong, but I don't know that I have their strength. A lot of times I'm like, ‘No, I can't do it,’ and I can't do it until I actually end up doing it.”

Shriya recalled becoming pregnant in Barcelona during the COVID-19 pandemic, away from her family and without help, noting that she took care of her child on her own for months.

Soon after, she received a call from Panorama Studios regarding Drishyam 2. She recalled the team checking in on her before asking about her family planning status as production plans took shape.

Shriya had around eight months from the time of her child's birth to the shoot to lose weight and prepare physically while caring for her child. She explained that she was breastfeeding and pumping while exercising. Her husband took care of the child while she went to the gym, took long walks, and ran, after which she would return and cook.

Shriya sees a sense of resilience in both herself and Nandini when handling difficult situations. With Drishyam 3 completing the Hindi trilogy, her recollection highlights the personal circumstances surrounding her return for the second installment.
