Soha Ali Khan Shares Childhood Memories of Animals on World Animal Day

On World Animal Day, Soha Ali Khan discussed her lifelong connection with animals, growing up with pets and farm animals, and her current pet dog, Oreo.

On the occasion of World Animal Day, actor Soha Ali Khan shared her long-standing connection with animals and discussed how growing up around them shaped her understanding of their behaviour and emotions. She recalled spending time surrounded by farm animals in Bhopal and Pataudi, as well as encountering lizards and mice at her home in Delhi, noting that her first connection with an animal was with a little mouse that lived in her bedroom.

Soha also remembered spending time in jungles with her family, which taught her respect for animals and their space. She recalled that her father, former Indian cricketer Tiger Pataudi, encouraged her and her siblings to grow up with pets. According to Soha, having dogs taught children about grief and loss, mentioning the passing of Kunal Kemmu’s dog Masti and how it affected the family and their daughter Inaaya. Kunal later got Masti’s name tattooed on his body.

Currently, Soha is a pet parent to Oreo, whom she describes as empathetic, perceptive, and like a therapy dog. She also expressed a fascination with elephants, recalling seeing elephant mothers protect their young during a trip to South Africa. Meanwhile, she noted that Inaaya has learned to care for Oreo responsibly, understanding how to look after him properly.
