Sonali Kulkarni Discusses Playing a Mother Again After 26 Years in The Paradise

Nani, Sonali Kulkarni, Raghav Juyal, and Kayadu Lohar attended a press meet for The Paradise in Mumbai. Sonali Kulkarni, who has worked in films since 1992, gained widespread recognition for playing Hrithik Roshan's mother in Mission Kashmir (2000). Twenty-six years later, she is once again playing a mother, this time to Nani.

Addressing perceptions around playing maternal roles, Kulkarni noted that audiences often express surprise when heroines play mothers, unlike male actors who play diverse roles. However, she emphasized that the film industry never typecast her, pointing out that she signed Dil Chahta Hai and worked on Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (2001) following her role in Mission Kashmir.

Kulkarni also shared that unlike Mission Kashmir—where she had only one scene with Hrithik Roshan—she shares numerous emotional scenes with Nani in The Paradise, describing their work together as a jugalbandi.

The Paradise is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 24.
