The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) has initiated film production to support its alumni and faculty. After an application window that closed on January 31, 2026, and a selection process by the selection board, nine talented filmmakers—consisting of eight alumni and one faculty member—have been chosen.
This current round will produce four full-length feature films and five short non-feature films. The feature films will be handled by Prof. Sudipto Shankar Roy, Ashok Veilou, Krishnakant Borah, and Ramkrishna Soren. Meanwhile, the short film projects are assigned to Suchana Saha, Aniket Kumar, Akshay Varshney, Vrushab Maitri, and Abison Yumnam.
The initiative operates with backing from the National Film Development Corporation, guidance from SRFTI, and support from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. According to the institute, the next drive will resume shortly to provide similar opportunities for filmmakers.
