Taapsee Pannu Comments on Criticism and Success of Gandhari on Netflix

Taapsee Pannu Addresses Gandhari Criticism and Netflix Success

Taapsee Pannu’s action thriller Gandhari is achieving new milestones on Netflix, emerging as the biggest Indian film performance on the platform in 2026. The film has gained a strong global audience and praise for Taapsee’s action sequences and physically demanding performance.

Reflecting on the viewership, Taapsee noted that a strong opening was followed by an even bigger jump in viewership. She stated that while people may initially watch a film for its makers or actors, subsequent viewership increases are due to the content connecting with audiences.

Addressing those who found faults in the film, Taapsee remarked, “If the same film had a male lead and had been written by a male writer, no one would have questioned its logic.” She added that people enjoy illogical films with male leads, but questioned why there is no room for error when it comes to a female protagonist.

To prove its success and silence naysayers, Taapsee noted that Gandhari had to become one of the biggest Netflix originals of all time. The film continues to hold strong on global charts, marking an important milestone in her career.
