Taapsee Pannu Reveals Being Replaced From Films Due to Lead Actors and Their Wives

Taapsee Pannu Opens Up About Being Replaced in Films

Taapsee Pannu recently discussed instances where she was removed from film projects, noting that she was not always provided with a clear explanation for the decisions. During a conversation with host Nayandeep Rakshit, the actress recalled being replaced after a lead actor objected to her casting, stating she was given no solid reason other than the actor not wanting her in the film.

Recalling what she described as the worst reason given to her for being replaced, Taapsee shared, “The worst reason given to me when I was replaced was, ‘The hero’s wife doesn’t like you.’ I don’t know why she didn’t like me.” She did not disclose the identities of the actor or his wife.

Project Choices and Recent Work

In a previous conversation with PTI, Taapsee spoke about turning down certain roles to avoid being typecast. She noted that the industry often relies on fixed sets of actors for particular types of roles, such as glamorous parts or hard-hitting, issue-based films. To avoid predictable endings and being typecast, she has turned down films and advised makers not to cast her.

On the work front, Taapsee was most recently seen in the action-thriller Gandhari, directed by Devashish Makhija and backed by Kanika Dhillon. The film premiered on Netflix on September 3, and later reached No. 1 globally with 9.6 million Netflix views in its second week.
