Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh Calls Alpha 'A Beautiful Body Without A Soul'

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared a candid verdict on Alpha, stating that the Yash Raj Films spy film had the polish expected of a major studio but failed to hold his attention. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he described the film as a "beautiful body without a soul," pointing to the storytelling as the primary issue.

Adarsh acknowledged the film's technical and visual aspects, but stated, "When your story is weak, it brings me back to the same point. While watching the film, I became restless." He added that his reaction upon walking out of the theatre was evident on his face.

Comparing the film to other studio projects, Adarsh contrasted his disappointment with Alpha to his positive experience watching Saiyaara from the same production house. He also mentioned carrying another spy-universe film, Dhurandhar, in his mind while going in to watch Alpha.

Discussing Yash Raj Studios and genre choices, Adarsh noted that while the studio built its identity around romantic films—such as Saiyaara—their ventures into action like War 2 and Alpha have not worked as expected. However, he stated that a production house should not limit itself to one category, pointing to successful action and thriller titles like Ek Tha Tiger and the Mardaani franchise, featuring Rani Mukerji.
