Trade Stunned by Drishyam The Conclusion Opening Weekend; Predicts Rs. 400-450 Crore Lifetime
Trade experts react to Drishyam The Conclusion pulling in a massive Rs. 174 crore opening weekend, discussing franchise growth and lifetime box-office predictions.
The trade and industry expected Drishyam The Conclusion to open with a bang, but its massive Rs. 174 crore collection left experts stunned. Trade professionals shared their thoughts on the film's unexpected box-office success and what lies ahead.
Trade Experts on the Massive Opening
Trade veteran Taran Adarsh noted that the brand has grown significantly, building a ready-made audience from the first part's success on television and digital platforms. “When the second part opened so big, the third part was bound to be 5 or 10 steps ahead,” he said, while expressing sadness that the memorable series featuring the Salgaonkar family has concluded.
Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, called the opening a surprise. “It’s a film which doesn’t have any of the commercial trappings like hit music, romance, comedy, etc. It’s a plot-driven franchise with a dash of murder mystery,” Chauhan said, attributing ticket sales to immense love and trust in the franchise.
Trade analyst Atul Mohan called it a pleasant surprise, noting he had previously congratulated producer Kumar Mangat Pathak. Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal confessed he initially expected a lower opening day collection of Rs. 45 crores and a weekend of Rs. 140 crores, rather than the actual first-day collection of Rs. 62 crores and a three-day collection of Rs. 175 crores.
Lifetime Box-Office Predictions
Trade experts anticipate a massive lifetime run, with projections generally pointing toward the Rs. 400 to 450 crore range. Atul Mohan stated that a lifetime of Rs. 400 crores is certain given two open weeks to score. Raj Bansal projects a range of Rs. 400 crores to Rs. 450 crores, noting that upcoming pre-Diwali periods and the arrival of Ramayana in November could impact further milestones like Rs. 500 crores.
Vishek Chauhan expects a finish between Rs. 350 and 400 crores, emphasizing that a film of this genre collecting Rs. 300 to 400 crores is phenomenal.
