Vijay Deverakonda Reveals Dhurandhar Songs Are Popular in South India and Played in Gyms
During a podcast promotion for his upcoming film Ranabaali, Vijay Deverakonda revealed that songs from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar are popular in South India and frequently played in gyms.
Actor Vijay Deverakonda recently discussed the popularity of Hindi film music in South India during a conversation with host Shubhankar Mishra, while promoting his upcoming Telugu period action-drama Ranabaali.
When asked about his personal music preferences, Deverakonda shared that he listens to a lot of independent music. The conversation then shifted to popular Hindi songs in South India, prompting the actor to mention tracks from Dhurandhar.
Deverakonda noted that the songs from the Ranveer Singh-led film have found an audience in the South and are regularly played in gyms. Although he could not immediately recall the track names, he asked the host to hum a few tunes during the candid moment.
The actor is currently promoting Ranabaali, directed by Rahul Sankrityan. Set against a 19th-century colonial backdrop between 1854 and 1878, the film follows Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, played by Deverakonda, as he leads an armed rebellion against British exploitation and grain hoarding during the Madras Famine of 1876–78.
The film stars Rashmika Mandanna as Jayamma, Deverakonda's onscreen wife, and Arnold Vosloo as the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. With music by Ajay-Atul and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers in association with T-Series, Ranabaali is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
