Wysiwyg Explores Childhood Wonder and Imagination
Wysiwyg is a theatrical production that explores childhood imagination, creativity, and the impact of screen time, written and directed by Teertha.
Wysiwyg is a heartfelt journey into the perception and imagination of a child, revealing how magical everyday life can be until that wonder begins to fade. The play explores what happens when imagination disappears and what the imaginary friends Dodo, Siggy, and Sam can do to stop it. Based on the phrase 'What you see is what you get', the production celebrates creativity and childhood wonder.
Writer and Director
The play is written and directed by Teertha, an actor, theatre practitioner, and educator with extensive experience in Indian theatre. Teertha has performed at festivals such as the Serendipity Arts Festival-Goa, Bharat Rang Mahotsav-Delhi, and the International Theatre Festival of Kerala, and has acted in ad films, short films, and Gujarati feature films.
Director’s Note
Teertha addresses a quiet crisis where children spend significant time looking at screens rather than engaging with the world around them. Drawing on childhood memories of finding wonder in everyday things, the play serves as a window of hope and a glimpse into a world filled with creativity that children can carry home in their hearts.
Group
Pitara, founded and led by Teertha Bhatt, is an initiative dedicated to nurturing creativity and expression in children through theatre, visual communication, applied theatre, and creative thinking.
