Yami Gautam discusses how winning the National Film Award for Best Actress for Article 370 has brought her a greater sense of responsibility and impacted her professional life.
Yami Gautam recently received the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance as NIA officer Zooni Haksar in Article 370. Speaking about the honour at the trailer launch of Nayyi Navelli, the actress opened up about how the recognition has brought a greater sense of responsibility to her approach towards work.
Yami stated that the National Film Award is a very true validation for any artist. She acknowledged that things have changed for her professionally since receiving the award and that she feels the sense of responsibility even more, though she remains focused on giving her best and earning the audience's appreciation.
Reflecting on her journey, Yami stated that there is still much for her to learn and grow as an artist. When asked if the National Award had made her think about aspiring for an Oscar, she kept her ambitions private, noting that dreams should be known only to oneself and that she believes in letting her work speak for itself.
At the 72nd National Film Awards, Yami won Best Actress for Article 370, while the film also received awards for Best Feature Film and Best Music Direction (Songs). Her husband, Aditya Dhar, accepted the Best Feature Film honour and watched as Yami received her award from President Droupadi Murmu.
