Zakir Khan Recalls Cultural Shock and Condescending Attitudes After Moving from Indore to Delhi

Comedian and actor Zakir Khan discussed his move from Indore to Delhi, experiencing cultural shock and condescending attitudes, during an appearance on Double Date.

Comedian and actor Zakir Khan recently opened up about his experiences moving from Indore to Delhi and the cultural differences he faced while trying to establish himself in the capital. Appearing on Double Date alongside hosts Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi, Zakir discussed being judged for his background, clothes, and appearance.

Reflecting on his early days in Delhi, Zakir described it as a major cultural shock. He noted that people's perceptions were heavily influenced by appearance and clothing, and that individuals were often treated like a joke until they established themselves professionally. Contrasting Delhi with his time in Indore, where he did not encounter such treatment, Zakir recalled experiencing a condescending tone from people.

During the conversation, Angad Bedi brought up Zakir's interest in cricket. Zakir shared that he deliberately avoids talking about topics he is deeply passionate about, following advice from his grandfather to stay quiet so as not to bore others. When Neha Dhupia playfully asked if he was passionate about Delhi girls, Zakir replied simply, "No."

The Double Date episode also featured former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, with Zakir and Irfan discussing their experiences and journeys with the hosts. Additionally, Zakir is currently a participant on Rise and Fall Season 2, which streams on Amazon Prime Video and MX Player.
