Last Man In Tower Movie Review
Last Man In Tower is the story of a man and his principles, set in the year 2010. Yogesh Mishra (Manoj Bajpayee) lives alone in a 2BHK flat in Vishram Society in Vakola, Mumbai. The building is dilapidated, and renovation work has stalled because some members cannot contribute to the expenses. Builder Dharmen Shah (Boman Irani) of Determination Group plans to demolish the building to construct a residential complex called Shanghai, offering residents 2.5 times the market value of their flats. While most residents are overjoyed, Yogesh refuses to accept the offer due to a past experience and the cherished memories of his late wife. His refusal creates friction among the residents, dividing the society.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Aravind Adiga. It features a screenplay by Sooni Taraporevala and dialogues by Juhi Chaturvedi. Ben Rekhi directs the film, which also features Divya Dutta as Sangeeta Puri, along with performances by Chandan Roy Sanyal, Uday Chandra, Madhuri Bhatia, Harish Khanna, Swaroopa Ghosh, Sukant Goel, Sarika Singh, and Srikant Yadav.
Technical aspects include music and background score by Govind Vasantha, cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran, costumes by Sachin Lovalekar, production design by Rakesh Kumar Yadav, and editing by Meghna Manchanda Sen and Akshara Prabhakar.
Overall, the film rests on a relatable premise and sincere performances, though it features an uneven third act and a divisive climax.
