Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar Review

PEHLA PYAAR DOOSRI BAAR follows three friends—Gautam Govind Sharma (Sparsh Walia), Vedant Rawat (Kunal Vaid), and Shivi Pradhan (Sargun Kaur Luthra)—who share a flat in Delhi-NCR, studied at the same school, and work at Cyber Nexus. Unhappy with their jobs and single, they decide to attend a school batch reunion in Mussoorie after learning their respective school crushes will be there: Gehna Gundecha (Alisha Chopra) for Gautam, Simran Sandhu (Sakshi Vaidya) for Vedant, and Karan Shergill (Tushar Chhibber) for Shivi. However, events do not go as planned.

The story is written by Luv Ranjan, with a screenplay by Luv Ranjan, Jehan Handa, and Anuj Saini. The screenplay is breezy with hilarious moments, though the writing falters in places. The dialogues serve as one of the film's USPs. Anuj Saini directs with a simplistic yet effective approach, properly establishing characters and distinct romantic tracks, while unexpected twists in the second half add to the fun.

On the flipside, the film features some illogical and problematic sequences, sudden developments, an unconvincing portrayal of Gehna's over-possessiveness, and a forced kissing scene between two men. Limited buzz and promotions are cited as major drawbacks.

The newcomer cast—Sparsh Walia, Kunal Vaid, Sargun Kaur Luthra, Alisha Chopra, Sakshi Vaidya, and Tushar Chhibber—delivers likeable performances. Supporting actors include Vikesh (Gobind Singh Mehta), Rishabh Dev Singh (KB), and Ishika Jaiwani (Kanupriya), alongside a special appearance by Rajkummar Rao. Younger actors playing Gautam and Vedant end up hamming.

Music is composed by Rochak Kohli, featuring tracks like 'Zulmi', 'Kamaal', 'Purane Din', 'Jaane Kis Mod Pe', and 'Pyaar Manga Hai Tumhi Se', with a background score by Hitesh Sonik. Technical credits include cinematography by Vidushi Tiwari, production design by Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty, costumes by Natasha Vohra Saini, and editing by Manann Sagar.

Ultimately, the film is a breezy romantic entertainer featuring youthful appeal, amusing dialogues, and likeable performances, though it suffers from negligible awareness due to limited promotions.
