Karan Johar and Maheka Mirpuri Raise Rs. 4.12 Crores at Cancer Charity Gala

Filmmaker Karan Johar joined fashion designer and philanthropist Maheka Mirpuri at the 14th Annual Move for Cancer Awareness (MCAN) Foundation Charity Gala in Mumbai, where a charity auction raised Rs. 4.12 crore in an hour. Held at the Taj Mahal Palace, the event brought together personalities from the film industry, fashion, business and other fields to raise funds for the treatment of underprivileged patients battling head and neck cancer at Tata Memorial Hospital.

Karan, supporting the initiative for the fourth consecutive year, spoke about making cancer treatment accessible. He stated, “This is my fourth consecutive year supporting Maheka and the incredible work she is doing through M-Can. I truly believe in this cause and the importance of ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent patients from accessing the treatment they need.”

Maheka Mirpuri reflected on the initiative's progress, noting that over the past 13 years, they have raised Rs. 16.59 crores and helped 4,000 patients access cancer treatment.

The evening featured a showcase of Maheka’s collection titled ‘BOMBAY से BEYOND – POSTCARD TO REALITY’, with décor inspired by the city's past, live art performances, a saxophonist, and a singer. Attendees included Urmila Matondkar, Poonam Dhillon, Madhoo Shah, Isha Koppikar, Shalini Passi, Dalip Tahil, Ramesh Sippy, Barkha Dutt, and Mansi Scott.
